Speaker Install Advice Needed - Into Door Skin

Hi guy,
I am trying to install some speakers into the front
of my mx83 cressida, in the standard door mounts.
The only thing is the standard cutout is way too small
for the 5" speakers I got.
can I cut out the inside of the door skin a bit?
there is a small rivet weld just below the hole I will need to
cut (see pic).

OR should I scrap it and take the speakers back and swap them
for some decent 4" splits??
