removing crank pulley from 1G Tue, 09 August 2005 05:49 Go to next message
hey guys, once again i stuck... gotta get the crank pulley off to replace the timing belt, though i can't undo the bolt for starters, from what i can see there's 2 holes on either side of the center bolt, and if i had a welder i'd make a 'C' spanner of sorts up to keep the pulley still while i undo the bolt... has anyone got any suggestions, i've tried putting it in gear, but it still just pushes the car... tried sticking something in the hole to wedge it on the engine behind, but i only get the smooth timing cover...

suggestions?

Put a breaker bar on the crank pulley bolt. Wedge it against something. Put in neutral, crack the starter, should take a whole half a second to come undone.

Does it have a starter connected? If so, connect it's main line to the battery and give the starter pin on the engine/dash plug 12V.

it can be done, lots of jiggling.

Just buy one of them from supercheap. Best $25 you'll ever spend. It seriously just makes things a billion times easier.

Eddie.

Will work on a 4age! To tighten, use some loctite, put it in gear and get someone to step on the brake while you tighten it up. A lower gear would be better to use, I tend to think
