Yesterday I was driving along in that stinking hot weather (~45degC @ Richmond) and the car was getting really hot.

My 28 as a lot of you know has a 1G-GTE, however it is still running the standard radiator. This concerned me a little when I bought it but I was assured that it was up to the tast. Since then I have installed a thermostat (82degC) and thermofan (on at 95degC) and it runs a fair bit hotter now than it did then (stone cold - so thats what the blue smoke was Confused )

Anyhow compared to the thermostat and fan temps on the guage, I guess it was running at about 120degC yesterday and I was starting to get worried.

Thats when the engineer side of me cuts in and I'm thinking all technical like........ need to cool it down...........need better flow through radiator.........thinking about the shape of the front end........should be a low pressure system at the aft end of the bonnet under the windscreen............what if I pop the bonnet...........lets give it a go.

Within about 2 minutes the temperature was down to about 95 and I was driving around with a big grin Very Happy on my face (as usual).

Moral of the story - You just can't beat the classic lines of an RA28 Razz
