 Calling all mechanics....how to remove Camry drive axles from transaxle??

Fellow mechs
How much force does it take to extract the short shaft on lefthand side of transaxle, the one once actually goes into the diff itself. The other end of the shaft bolts directly to the CV joint on end of drive shaft.
So far I have been unable to lever it out or jerk it out by hand, should I be using a slide hammer??
Am I trying to do it all wrong??
