Lost my License - Ideas for how to pass the time....

well i was acting like a dickhead today running late to get somewhere and was pulled over doing 45+ stupid i know and hell i've got to face the consequences for my actions. but thats not the real topic, because everyone is sick of people bitching about the fact that they've lost thier license.
i'm more interested in hearing from people who have lost thier license and how they've passed the time not being able to drive. i'm looking for an alternative that won't lead me to the pub most nights as i'm more than certain that this will be the beginning of even bigger and better drinking advertures knowing that there is no way that i'll be driving again for 6 months once everything is processed.

i wish, public transport is more expensive than fuel to get to work since i live so close to work. $20 for fuel vs $50 a week for public transport. also 10 mins travel time vs 30-45 depending on whether the train arrives

i'll tell you what to do, start riding a bike!! seriously, i have lost my licence 3 times 6months a piece over the past 8years, and the last time i lost it, i rode to work 8kms around 25-30mins each way, and after the first month it wasnt hard work at all, youll save lots of money and get super fit, dont be lazy just do it. Best thing i ever did.
Oh good time get a project car or something to tinker with in your spare time stuck at home

yep if thats your plan, it has worked out for the best.
Its funny because at the time i last lost mine i had vague plans of going overseas then bang lost my licence, so i had 6months to save some cash while not driving/modifying a car AND the best thing was getting fit while riding, believe me the first 1-2weeks will be HARD!! but after a month its damn easy and is the best way to start a day.

i will most probly be in the same boat with a bigger hole see http://forums.toymods.org.au/index.php?t=thread&am p;frm_id=1&rid=10331&S=47af8009970ad1e9033 3a7638dfebaf4 my advice is to befriend some cruisers of the red p variety and copilot wif them pluses are they are thrashing thier
car ,young hotties and you can drink whilst cruising and kanoodling wif the young hotties ,think about it you can easily get in wif them if you help them buy thier grog but only if thier 18 that way they dont haf to get out the car and if you got yur own place they can stay so they dont drink drive!

My house mates daily has pretty much been sat consistantly on my driveway on axle stands for the last 6 months, bar a 1 1/2 week period when it was back on the road.
He rides every to work everyday. Its to the point now its nearly quicker to ride because of the speed and the fact he can take a lot of short cuts which save a lot of time.
I think he would prefer to have his car back. Thats a different long story though! Involves a number of broken gearboxes.

shit dude thats no good...
sorry to hear you got caught not the nicest feeling in the world is it but meh good time to save up for things.
Just find somewhere to store the car for a while..
Ive been saving heaps since i stopped driving to work $18 a week instead of $50-60 it used to cost me to go half the distance and you dont have to get the car serviced new tyres ect etc which is where the real cost in a car lies.
Then again i didnt ever potter to work.
$50 a week for public transport
it costs me $18 for a weekly from killara to turramurra
all is not lost sure it will be a pain but catching public transport can be good and you dont have to worry about driving the next day after youve been on the pisser...
I was lucky i didnt join the no driving club on the weekend too.

finney nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
oh man!
also i dunno what the go is with the cost of public transport
non-concession, a train ticket from gosford on the central coast to north sydney station is only $47 for a weekly ticket...
so thats pretty expensive public transport for you!
oh man, now the corona will beat you through teh hills
well, just wear your nikes, then you'll give it a run for your money
I'd save your money, and just put it in one of those ING investor accounts
then forget about it, and keep depositing money in there
Just pretend it doesn't exist. Then, before you know it, you'll have quite a little packet saved up

the killer on the public transport is busses to and from the station, but i think i'll ditch them and just start walking. i'm just not looking forward to the weekends that there is trackwork.. rail buses lick balls.

hey finney where do u work?
firstly entrust your car keys with your parents, or even better de-register your car to avoid the temptation of driving, a friend of mine started driving while he was suspneded, got pulled over about 3 days before he was coming off suspension, from 3 months to 1 extra year.
also jsut work work work work. ride your bike walk, try and avoid as much public transport as u can.

i work in gordon so it's not too far from home, trains just shit me.
theres no way i'll be driving whilst suspended, a mate got caught and got another 2 years added to his 12 month suspension.
i'm considering reregisteringt the car so i can get it driven to a track day in october. also i'll probably get a mate added to my insurance policy so that the car can be driven whilst i don't have my lisence rather just leave it sitting.

Toobs says fight it all the way!!!
Suspension of license will increase your insurance premiums and possibly make it impossible for you to get your now heavily modified car insured!
Heres a start:

i reckon, sinc eit was deliberate.. and 45+, that you should just cop the susp as you deserve it.. no excuse for 45+ on public roads.. but you know anyway
what you could do, is to spend the money you normally would on petrol... on advanced driver training days!! maybe it will save your licence when you get it back.... plus you get to hoon around oran park (or wherever) and learn your car... and even get your CAMS licence.....
so, was it 100 in a 50 zone? or higher???
oh, or you could take up karting etc etc... get into motorsport so you won't need to speed again..
or get a watch and set it 30 mins fast

I had a 3 month suspension, and it was the worst 3 months in my life , plus driving for nearly 2 years on 1 point .
One thing you could try is get a QLD license, and say you were visiting your parents in sydney if you get pulled over, if you have an accident your screwed. Buy a shitbox cops wouldnt give a 2nd look, and drive carefully never on weekends though. I know many people that drove suspended from 3 months to 1 year, but it depends how much LUCK! you have, like a time bomb about to explode.
OR you can watch grass grow as mentioned .

dude, thats fucked... don't even think about encouraging people to drive while suspended... the road rules (however arbitrary) are there for a reason, as are the punishments...
THERE IS NO JUSTIFICATION FRO DRIVING WHILE SUSPENDED (except of course, medical emergencies)
driving whilst suspended is fucking stoopid (which is why he is asking for alternatives )... massive fine, extra suspension, ZERO insurance coverage... just take a taxi or PT
i say get into motorsport...

If you drive during peak hour you would probably get away with it as you just blend in with the masses, however driving at night and non-peak times considerably increases your chance of being sprung. I wouldn't recommend it.

i agree with cruzida - jerk off more, otherwise you'll spend a lot more time having sex with your missus and end up with a child and you'll have to sell the car to pay for the little midget's education.
If you insist on improving the frequency of sexual interactions, get the double-snip.
you'll also watch more TV, porn and the internet so i'd suggest more frequent use of your g/f's exofoliant or loufa to prevent arse-pimple buildup.
I'd suggest you remove the battery from the car and put it on blocks - otherwise one night in a fit of drunken boredom, you'll want to take the car for a spin.
Given that you can no longer be the nominated driver (which in itself is a good thing - aways being too drunk to drive), you'll drink and smoke a great deal more so unless you take up bicycle riding, you'll turn into a lard-arse fat guy.

become a nerd...computer games really make time fly by fast...spend all your petorl money on computer/console games. and get quality calisis on those thumbs.
and if all turns out correct you can sue the console manufacturer when you RSA on your wrist's from un-ergonomic design and spend all your new found cash on a shiny new car when you get your license back.
but serious computer games are a great time killer
and if all else fails.. take up a night job, packing shelfs at a super market?

that is true merudo, when you get you license back you will come under the new rulings if you are on your p's meaning no turboes or modified cars. Seeing its still a very similar engine ie just a different 4age version you might be able to apply for exemption, but they seem to be pretty up tight about doing this. Ie they will only exempt things like a V8 landcruiser if you need it for work.
