RA28 diff upgrade - ideas/input etc etc Mon, 03 February 2003 01:45 Go to previous message
Ok starting to tackle the job of upgrading the diff in the RA28. After much debating and stuffing around with different options for so long but it has got to the point where I had to make a move.
i've decided just to take the jump and go with the F series..

Here is where I am at....

I have purchased a complete Toyota Crown MS112 with F series disc brake rear end. I figure whatever obstacles will just have to be dealt with as they come along.

Anyhows, was just hoping for some input...

I have the complete MS112, so I can get whatever needed from that. It is F292 on the build plate.

Problems :
1) It is 5 stud and I have just completed the toyots 4 spot/puegot discs, corona strut/hub front brake upgrade which is 4 stud.

So either have rear axles modified to 4 stud, or utalise the MS112 front end on the celica somehow as well and have 5 stud all round (then need new wheels though and already have mags on it).

2)I think the MS112 diff is 1410mm wide, celica is what around 1350? Can this difference be adjusted with different offset wheels, or is 60mm just too greater width to remove with different offset?

Should I be shorting axles instead?

3)LSD centers... What is avaliable for the F series? It appears 4 runners have a F series diff in the front of them. If this is correct I can get plenty of torsen centers, air lockers, detroit etc.

I heard the supras with F series LSDs are quite rare? Or maybe a Liteace 4WD if such a thing exists?

Any ideas/input/assistance would be great!

Thanks
Joel
