Thu, 25 August 2005 14:30 Hi all, I've searched long and hard, but I can't find any info in the forums about this.... I've recently purchased a Celica TA23 with a 3T-GTE engine. The car runs quite well, although it seems a little sluggish to take off. This is the first problem. and any suggestions would be great! I know very little about newer turbo engines, as ive only worked on the older 2T engines The engine seems in good condition and is fairly clean, although my main concern is a mate just spotted a large amount of builtup oil and gunk at the front of the engine just on and mainly below the 3T-GTE symbol plate, above the various belts etc... Tomorrow i'm going to check to see if there is any oil in the coolant and degrease the engine, but are there any other ways of determining whether the head gasket is blown ? I've just spent all the money I had purchasing the car, so I really hope its not blown as I guess its going to be expensive... Any help would be really great. Thanks in advance!
