Hi, my MA61 Supra at one stage had at least 5 sets of Simmons wheels as spares, but at present I only have one set so there are at least 4 sets out there somewhere! The wheels would have all been Simmons P4s or P86s. The P4s are like V5 mesh Simmons, but they are a bit flatter, and the rims bolt onto the outside of the centre. The P86s are the same except the centre area of the wheel (around the bolts) is plain with no mesh, they were designed for centre locking hubs but the ones used on my car had the 4 normal bolt holes. All the wheels had a 13 1/4" diameter centre, with deep dish rims to make them up to the 16" rim diameter, and they are either 8" wide or 8 1/2", seems Peter Williamson was experimenting a bit as I have 3 different widths in the 4 original wheels I have found. If they were used on the front, they also had a 3mm spacer screwed to the wheel centre. Outer rims were around 2 1/2" wide, inners were between 5 1/2" to 6".
I had heard that someone from Maitland had bought at least 3 of the sets back in the 90's. I don't suppose anyone has any wheels, or even centres, which match this description? Retro Wheels can make them up new, but they aren't allowed to cast the Simmons name into them, so I am looking for the originals. They have to be out there somewhere! Would consider other Simmons 16" mesh wheels (P4/V4/V5), width not important as I would change the rim sections anyway.
Regards,
John
