I have a 3rd Gen 1GGTE and im wanting to upgrade to a single T04 turbo setup.
im wondering what are the limits of the stock 1g in regards to this type of conversion? Will i need to upgrade the injectors, ecu, AFM etc?
I have tried heaps of searches but can't find a good answer on this stuff. I know there's plenty of guys out there who've done this upgrade so If anybody could help me out that would be great

You'll get the best benefits by going aftermarket ecu.
Otherwise you'll need to purchase a few piggybacks to be able to safely boost past stock fuel cut.
A set of 7MGTE 440cc injectors, and a Microtech LT10S ecu would be the best route while keeping $$ on the lowdown.

Not to say that you still wont be able to run the single turbo setup with the stock ecu, you just have to make sure that your afm isnt being pulled open to much due to the higher cfm produced by the bigger turbo, this can be adjusted by tighting the spring on the afm sprocket under the black lid, though yes aftermarket ecu and bigger injectors are a must for you to make good use of this turbo. Yes your motor if in good condition will handle what you should be able to give it as they are tough as nails

its a stock 1g running a y-pipe adaptor and a t70 turbo
40mm hks copy wastegate
3" all the way
hybrid copy front mount with 3" piping
xf throttle body and custom plenum
7mgte injetors
microtech LTX12s comp
+ heaps of little stuff

With two of those, I'd be hoping for bullshit power levels to match the lag.

I was gunna say, lag factor would be pretty big with two of those things

Provided they are sized correctly, lag is not really an issue these days with modern turbo's. Unfortunately a lot of guys go for turbo's that are too big and make a quick street drivable car into a one only good for 1/4 mile squirts.

Its also wise to keep in mind the capacity of your motor, what power level your chasing and wat style of driving you want out of the car, (i.e you aint gonna have a 8 sec 1/4 mile car to be a quick traffic light dragger) in my opinion there is no point to having a car that can do nothing but spool late spin wheels or just bog down. Power being one thing but drivability is the keep to a quick car and at the expense of a little drivability is the only way you will acheive more power, it all just depends on how far up the scale you think that its nessesary to take.

points to my turbo, this is what we call atad on the large side, but it was the right price, i could prob make the same outright power and come on boost 2000rpm fast with the perfect turbo combo, tho the 3" intercooler piping and huge throttle body dont help with that either... but god damn its worth the wait

Is there a difference in any of the internal aspects of a 1G-GTE as compared to a GZE?
I have the same car as MarkIIGT but the S/C version.
The life of this S/C has little future... The clutch shits me, there is no power progression, and its nearly impossible to IC so it runs so freakin hot...
I cant imagine whats gonna happen if i do the pulley change iv been contemplating without some form of cooling. ATW is expensive, and custom, and still bloody hard to fit without dragging something on the ground.
