Toyota launches supercharged Corolla - in Europe

With a supercharger added to the 1.8-liter VVTL-i engine, the Corolla Compressor gets a power boost to 215 bhp, good enough for a 6.9 second 0-100 Km/h time. The car is positioned to compete in Europe’s hot sport compact market segment, against cars like the Renault Megane RS, Ford Focus ST, VW Golf R32, and the Opel Astra OPC.

In addition to the uprated engine, the Compressor model gets a lowered sports suspension with stiffer springs, strut tower brace, and 17-inch wheels with 215/45 tires. A relatively restrained boy-racer body kit completes the package that is, of course, not headed to the U.S.
