1972 Mark II Corona For Sale Fri, 28 October 2005 11:39 Go to previous message
MX-10 model, 1972 Toyota Corona Mark II,
2 litre, 6 cylinder, 3 speed auto
Here are some pictures of it

The only bad bit of body is that passenger door. There is a large dinger in it, but its such a 'clean' dent, that it would push out no problem, without much future recognition that it was there, and the 2-3 badges missing
There are 2 very small areas of rust, near the drivers side rear wheel, and small bit in the driver door, Otherwise its pretty well unmarked.

It drives magnificently, and i think it is such a beautiful car to be behind the wheel of. The motor goes excellently, purrs great.
The two front tyres are near new, the back ones aren't nearly as good, but they'll do.
It has a nice golden (i think) interior.

The one and only problem, is the auto gearbox.
90% of the time it has no reverse, and does a few other silly things.

I have been told by many people,
this could be a number of things,

A simple poke and prod and she'll be fine,

Or it could need a complete gearbox overhaul, which is very costly
to get the auto working fine again.

However, a manual conversion is cheap and relatively straight forward, if you know what you are doing, especially if you know someone who can do it.
Much of the Crown and Cressida running gear would fit straight into this car, so it is just a matter of whacking it in.
I would do it, but i am not mechanically minded enough Sad
I was going to get it up and going properly, with a 4 or 5 speed (thanks to a guy here, Gday if you are reading Cool) , and if i cant sell it, i still may do so.

BUT reason for sale

My mini has given up.
It needs a complete engine rebuild, at the very least that will cost me 2 grand, so i cant afford spend much monies on this monster, as the mini is by far the priority.

Still, this Corona is a nice rare car, very easy 'project' or everyday classic, drive as is (just dont count on going backward:!Smile or get fixed for a great car.

It is registered for about 2 months, so if you are actually interested, you can PM, or Email me, and arrange to come and take it for a spin Question

Looking for around $850

but im in the Norht West Tassie,

so i have no idea how many other Tassieans there are Confused
