I know its not Toyota related, but apparently nobody is an enthusiast with these cars and hence there are'nt any clubs or forums going around (or none that I have found anyway).
The car is a 1991 Mazda 323 Astina SP - the ones with the pop up lights and fugly backside.
The question relates to the engine, the BP1.8. The engine in the car has 22x,000 on the clock and consumes a fair amount of oil and is generally very rattly and nasty. Does anyone know if later model BP's (eg out of MX5's) can be used as a direct replacement, or whether other engines can be considered? I'm looking for NA engines at the moment.
Preferably Mazda engine, as its more of a maintenance than a modification, but since I will be taking the engine out I may as well slot something newer in?
