HELP! need to know if this is electronic dizzy (pic)

ok dudes... i need some help becuase im stupid and my bloody 18R-GU wont start... 
I've also got myself a spare 18R-GU to play with, and have basically copied the wiring of the ignition straight from that. HOWEVER, the two have slightly different dizzys (from the outside anyway). The one in the car that wont start only has the black wire frim the ignition coil connected to that little bolt at the back... and nothing else connected to that. Is this ok?
The OTHER motor has the below setup. It has that same black wire from the dizzy bolt to the igntion coil, but also has a wiring going to this small cylinder on the dizzy too. Im totally confused.
is there anyway to see if the car is sparking with a mere multimeter?
