dash vibration noise in ae92 20 valve driving me crazy

Gday all,
A year or more ago i put a silvertop 20v in a white ae92 sx seca. People may remember the thread, it was rather large where lots of people contributed valuable help.
Now i have been putting off a problem with my dash rattling at about 5500 rpm, it finally got to me on the weekend so this morning i ripped my dash apart, piece by piece then going for a quick drive between each piece to check if the rattle had gone.
Currently i've got the surrounding piece out (that has the air blowers and shit in it), the top surround (goes around cluster and has the hazard light switch) and finally just taken out the whole instrument cluster. Still makes this damn vibration noise, like plastic on plastic rather loud.
Anyone every had a silly problem like this ? the car doesn't feel like it is badly vibrating or anything at 5500rpm, driving me insane. I've tightened or loosened every screw i could find, shoved in foamy stuff, still noisy. The noise seems to come from an air vent plastic pipe rattling (that's mounted behind the instrument cluster) it seems to be sitting in tight.
Any ideas would be appreciated. I guess i need to get someone in the car driving while i start grabbing stuff to see what is making the damn vibration rattly noise.
