Excellent! How much did it cost to do the conversion? I've been thinking that my next car might be a pre loved LS400, so I'm curious to have a price comparison.

Damn! That is exactly the same kind of conversion I want to perform - Same engine, same car!
Can you post any info you have on what is required eg. mounts, X-member, wiring etc. Also, what tranny are you using and are you going after-market management?
BTW, what are you connecting the TRC to?

Thanks guys, Cost was the cost of parts and a lot of time from a lot of friends. Biased, if you get the car and the engine I'll give you some guidance on how to put them together, but it isn't an easy conversion.

I saw a 1UZ-FE in an HQ last week. Looked like a bloody easy conversion. Rear sump was used with custom engine mounts. Sounded really nice.
I wouldn't mind a 1UZ-FE crown.

Hey i know this guy personally and i've been in the car. It is no fake. Darren, measure again cause my mate didn't seem to have too much hassle getting her in. Its tight around some spots but it was an ok fit. Phil, i know the guy who took the photo too, he wasn't pissed but he is a bit of a weed, goes to bed to early every night and has a booster seat for his girlfriend hehe. Danny, don't get me started.. or i'll get my mates wife to beat you up with a stick.

Just for interest's sake, the bloke who did my 4AGE conversion (into KE70) measured the 'bay for a 1UZ...(He does a LOT of 1UZ conversions into Volvos etc) and decided it would fit! (No, I'm not even going to attempt it, so don't ask!!! )
So there should be no reason why the V8 wouldn't fit into a Cressida...Why don't you bring it to the Wakefield day? (23rd June, I think) I for one would love to see it!

Jeez, I'd hate to have done a conversion that well and had someone tell me it was a doctored photo.

aarggghh.... I've been working out how to do just that for a few months now, measuring etc. I was gonna do it as my next car after the ae86, along with a big bastard opcon autorotor blower (Enough turbos!)
First though I'm putting a 1uz into a HZ holden ute (its actually a project im doing with my grandfather - how many 84 year old blokes get up to stuff like that ey?)
All I can say is good to see someones using my ideas (just kiddin! sure you dreamt it up long before me), would love to see it sometime.
Also, you using the auto or a manual box with it?

Wiring was done by a mate thats good at that sort of stuff, took him something like 10 hours though. But it did start on the first turn of the key!
Engine is out of a Celsior (LS400 here)
Didn't dream it up, the 7M blew another head gasket so I got the shits and put that in. It all happened inside a week.
You can measure all you want, the only way to find if it will fit is to get one and put it in. Except that you now know it will fit....

Danny nothing personal against you (i don't know you out side the forum) but if you quote "my mechanic says" you should not be the first to question a convertion i personaly woould of gotten quite offended by some one telling me my conversion is fake or i took to long doing it by someone who dosn't service thier own car...my conversion is taking freakin ages and ppl say it can be done in a weekend does it mean it will be bad cause me and my brother in law re taking our time???
I think this is the wrong attitude to have towards other ppls pride and joy especially fellow toymodders...
my 2 cents... next time even if you can clearly tell its a fake just leaave no comment instead of critasism ...

Anyone who says "This conversion should take a week-end only..." clearly hasn't undertaken, or had the conversion performed, themselves. Bolting in an engine is a only (a small) part of the story... V8Cressida will concur, I imagine, esp. as regards wiring and making ancillaries work etc.

Actually Biased, it took about 4 days.
*Friday night the 7M was taken out. *Saturday arvo the 1U was bolted in. *Sunday was spent on finishing touches like fuel and water hoses etc. *Monday it was at the exhaust place all day. *Tuesday the wiring was done and it was running, ready to drive.
That is complete with all accessories hooked up, although the Air-con hasn't been regassed yet.

Throw a 1JZGTE into the VL. I fitted one to VL1JZ's VL and performs really well now.
V8Cressida
Excellent job.
Most people on this forum seem to be the "bought - not built" mentality. What's a mechanic?
To remove the RB30 and fit the 1JZ into the VL only took one night. But - the 1JZ was only sitting on timber blocks. To finish the rest took me 12 weekends as I did all of the work by myself. At least I can appreciate the finer points of a conversion - ie engine mounts, fuel lines, wiring, air-con connections, power steering connection etc. All these items take time to work out and then find the necessary parts to make the right connections.
Next time it will only take half the time.
Anyway, a job well done. Now that is a good V8.
