I believe the effect of lowering the centre of gravity on performance to be marginal, particularly when offset by any inconvenience of scraping mud flaps on speed humps etc.
However, different suspension is useful in different cars.
I personally use lowered springs, but believe this to be an aesthetic benefit only, not performance oriented.
What do other readers think? Are lowered springs a performance must, or just to look nice (rice?) ??
Cam07a - please note that if you choose to have a suspension upgrade, you can choose heavy duty springs in either standard height, or lowered height. Hopefully some popular opinion might help you here ....
( I have a quote from Whiteline suspension that would help me here, ie lowered springs just for looks, but can't find it right now ...)
