Tue, 15 April 2003 07:49 Maybe a silly question but how did they use a 95 model engine in a 99 model car ??? I thought for emissions etc it had to be the engine was same year or newer than car ? re: is200/is300 - is300 is same chassis as is200 as you point out correctly with the 2jz-ge but only an auto. Not to mention heavier with extra electrics etc and little body mouldings (i like the clean is200 look) but does have xeon HID headlights i would love ! given is200/300 are more or less identical i think the swap would almost be the same, ok maybe have to buy a couple of extra engine mounts etc. is300 = ex demo best i could find about $68k but almost new is200 = 99 model used, $32k but for better examples i am guessing around $38-40k re: brakes - i would be useing 17" or 18" rims so large shouldn't be a problem, might use late supra brakes but they are expensive ! or some brembos or ap's whatever is a decent deal. This car would see some track use so brakes will be important to me. M800 is the ecu of choice stock ecu maybe to start with to find any faults. I am thinking of also ditching the TT turbo setup and going to a medium single unit, smaller than T78 I still have no idea about chassis, eg extra welds or changes, might even see if Neil Bates wants to share some secrets, you never know.
