if you could clarify what you mean by "starter sensor" i may be able to help?, i assume that you are reffering to the start signal which is sent to the ecu? if the check engine light is coming on what code is it flashing upon earthing the t terminal of the diagnonsis plug? my gze is map sensed thus may be different to the airflow meter version, but on mine the start signal also runs the cold start facility as well as going to the ecu.
