no u dont have to take the engine out of a ae82 to change the gearbox, on a hoist takes about 30mins, they r very easy to do to rebuilt a gearbox is alittle fun i havent done one personaly but have seen other mechanics at work do them, u need a fair few special tools to takethe gears of the main shaft, preety tricky, but ive only watched never done one ummm, i just went outside the check my spare box, im not sure what your talking about, my spare g/box was from a 4age, i have a spare 4ac one as well but its at a mates house, i will try and have a look at it tomorrow or early on in the week ive never personally heard of the problem u r have, normaly they just have gear syncro problems as they get older hope this helps alittle bro, if u ever need any advice, give us a bell, i work on toyotas everyday love being a mechanic and working on such a great brand [Report message to a moderator]
