Well How did I know this would come up soon? Look the Sportivo Corolla had a miss matched gearbox from day one, ie Standard 7A/4A C52, which would never cope with the Torque that the 7AFTE produces, the power is not the 'box' killer here. They're OK if you don't push them hard everyday but, as you have said, They obviously kill 2nd and 3rd, which is the main power gears, Now the 6-spd from the Blacktop 20V's (AE101&AE111) are a straight fit into the series two AE102's and your AE111. I was lucky to have a sportivo next to my AE102 which has this box fitting to it and I can confirm it's a straight fit. But you need everything incl the mounts for that gearbox, cables, and gear shifter, but, and a big but!, is the fact that the 20V doesn't produce the same amount of torque. So I hate to say, the 6-spd will last only as long as your current Gearbox, but they do have really nice ratio's and your 0-100kph will drop. If you want longivity, and better ratio's than standard, an AE101 GZE box is right on the money, and should have been there from day one! It has bigger shafts, bigger diff, bigger everything!! One of the guys that had 6-spd has gone this way, for that simple fact that they do last the punishment, and the price differences: $1200-2000 for the six and $250-500 for a GZE... So there you go.
PS
Both are available with LSD's, so more traction and this does liven then up!!
