Also take into account that that in most racing classes, the addition of a turbo is either illegal or you are faced with significant handicaps - std boost, the fitment of a restrictor plate and a capacity multiplication factor 1.7, thereby making your 3SGTE a 3.4 l engine. You'll be competing against full house 6 litre V8's. The fitment of a 6-8 cylinder engine where only a 4 cylinder was an option is generally considered a 'major engine change', and would result in your vehicle running in a sports sedan class, or potentially unclassifiable.
If you are quite serious about racing it, buy the CAMS motorsport manual and check out what class you think you would like to run in and what the rules are. Then choose your engine car combo. It will save you the incredible heartache of having spent 2 years building a car you can't race.
Of course if it's your road car and you think you might like to take it to the track once a year and sprint it, then build whatever you like.
