The number of cylinders is irrelevent. Horsepower is irrelevent. Torque is all important, and the ability to rev as high as you need, sensibly. A typical push-rod two-valve engine will make about 80 ft-lbs per litre. A good twin-cam multi-valve will make up around 95 ft-lbs per litre and do it over a wider range of revs, so for any given engine this type will always be better. I like big engines, and I like the twits that assume that because I like twin-cams I don't like V-8's. I always get a blank stare when I retort with, "Well, why do I own two of them then?" Of course, they are both 1UZ's, with quad-cams and 32 valves each. I also like turbo engines, as it allows you to effectively have two engines in one - A regular one that can be driven around with little throttle and the other that gets up on boost and goes well. I think they are perhaps the best solution. [Report message to a moderator]
