I havn't done anything to the exhaust. Yet. Let me stress yet. $$$ lack of currently.

But I'm definatly going for a 4-2-1 seperate plumb job (cat-front). I'm not too interested in cat-back ATM.

As for the cat, you could gut it (illegal) or try a more free flow one. But the cat isn't really the restriction anyway. Do the exhaust plumbing first. I also think you can enlarge the hole going into the cat for a larger pipe too.

Just a thought, since you have a V engine, did you consider having two cats? Dual pipe it to a large single out the rear, or even two mufflers. Something to consider if you have the $$$ and the space under the car.

The intake pipe from behind the headlight to the airbox probably isn't as free flowing as it could be (It certainly wasn't on my corolla. The headlight is actually quite close to the inlet which would restrict flow somewhat I imagine. I think there would be worthwhile gains to be had by redirecting the intake down into the front guard (where there may be a resonator (which you could remove)). As an example - on my car I used the intake piping from a 3.8L commodore motor as the basis for my intake. Its nice and big in diameter and smooth on the inside. It also collects air from outside the engine bay which should be cooler..
I also modified the airbox by getting rid of plastic flashing that intruded into the airflow path. A small detail but every little bit counts.

Personally I'm happy with my intake. But that plastic flashing thing got my attention. I might have to pull out the airbox to see if I can find what you mean there. Smile Bottom half or top half?
