I would be careful about the use of custom made "backing plates" for brake calipers, as i have been told there are some very stringent regulations for engineering such modifications. It would be far easier on an old 1976-1980 celica so follow the direct "bolt in" swaps as outlined in the Toymods Tech Articles section.
An engineer will be FAR happier with something that bolts in without making/cutting any metal.
Cheapest upgrade is RT-132 struts and brakes
- Next step up is using the pugeot 405(?) vented discs with spacers in the RT-132 calipers
- Next step up again is replacing the RT-132 calipers with the hilux 4 piston jobbies.
