The 3S-Ge and 3S-Gte come out in the newer post-late-eighties celicas and mr2's and came out in a few different generations, with slightly different specs.. They are all twincam 2 Litre's, the -Gte with a CT26(?) ceramic turbo.. They are regarded as one of toyotas best motors and have often proven to be very successful for modifications.. Even in such cars as Wayne Gardner's xA80 Supra that he races in japan in the GT races instead of the 3 litre twin turbo!! because its half as heavy and has a lot of power on tap..
This is one of the most recommened engine swaps for someone who has a lot of time or technical expertise.. or just the money to pay a good mechanic and auto-electrician..
A 3S-Ge swap would be pretty cool into an sa-63, yet for the money it would be better to go all out with the gte..
people have been known to spend over $8k for a complete conversion with all the neccessary bits and pieces, plus the cost of an engine, etc..
If you had a bit of cash, go the 1G-Gte, its a twin-cam 2 Litre straight 6-cylinder with twin turbos. These are a lightweight, powerful new-ish age motor from the older late-eighties soarers(and others..)
This would probably be cheaper as these engines can often sell for as little as $750..
The 18RGu's are good motors and if youve got one lying around why not chuck it in, it shouldnt be too difficult swap, just yeh they mite not like a 70's motor going into an 80's car... but is probly all good. Im putting an 18R-Ge into my celica. its got standard fuel injection, except rite now tho the injectors are buggered..
