Just a tip really.
If the dizzy looks way way out, and it hasn't been touched, you may have the ignitor wires (two wires from the dizzy to ignitor) around the wrong way. When you time the car up you want these wires (two wires only two possiblilites) on such a way that it give you the most advanced timming. Putting them on the wrong way will retard the timming by a hudge amount but will still run. Also if you do get it running on the wrong way when you rev it it will break down at high revs ie 4000+
probaly not your problem if you are just commenting on the static timing of the dizzy position.
