Why not get smashed? :( Sat, 24 May 2003 01:02 unfortunately they don't go on the value of the car like that, they just find out what the average price that type of car fetches at the auctions and thats what they give you. I'm afraid they will almost certainly put it down as an economic write off before they pay out over $3k, they're real bastards like that. there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to buy the wreck back and it should only cost you $250-$350 depite the contents. thats how it was for my car but if you're lucky you will get a better deal.
