My dad is looking at building a 4wd rally car and he is wanting to avoid a 4wd turbo due to the extra associated running costs of having a 4wd turbo (such as turbo rebuilds, drivetrain breakages and general additonal wear and tear).
He has been impressed with an impreza RX and figures that there may be something in the toyota (or other brands) that may also be suitable and worth looking at.
Ideally he is looking for a under 2000cc 4wd non-turbo car suitable to be built into a rally car - budget is not the main consideration. The celica was just a suggestion as it would have been nice to be able to find a 4wd version of the Celica SX.
The reasoning behind the under 2000cc and non-turbo is that it will keep ongoing running costs down and that he is not in the same class as the WRXs/Evos/GT4s etc (he would be in the same class as the other under 2 litre cars)
BTW - it is purely for rally use (will be a properly built rally car - he has been competing for almost 20 years) and hence rally only imports are OK.
