Have you got your timing right?
I can't see how you would not be running a fuel pressure regulator as there should be one attached to the rail with the return fuel line attached, are you running a return line as you must otherwise the engine will just flood.
If you are getting spark then check your timming if you are running electronic ignition check that the ignition module is wired to the dizzy such that the most advanced timing is acheived ( there are two wires from the module to the coil they will work wired both ways one way will give a more advanced timming result).
