Yep that speed sensor input should come off your instrument cluster. Well that's what Jim from Croyden Autosports says, it works out, i can see his point. Maybe give him a call at Croydon Autosports in Sydney.
I cant understand though why the tacho doesn't work. I understand the 7m has 3 coils instead of one but the Microtech output is a combined signal, ie one pulse every ignition fire. You can also do this by connecting the negative primary side of each coil with a diode on each wire before they come together into one. This is esentially the same signal as the single coil for the 5m.
A guy in the states who has also done the conversion says to use a MSD Tacho converter. I've never heard of such things in Australia. Anyone???
