Late-model W58's (ie JZA80/JZZ30 boxes) are internally different to the earlier ones. They have closer ratios and double-row synchros on 2nd and 3rd. I've heard they are slightly stronger as well but I have yet to confirm this. They also come with an external shifter but it's easy to convert them to internal using parts from an early W58.
