As EvilJack said it is more than enough time to rip it so it won't stop piracy, I think it will is more of a convenience thing which will lead to people having a large pile of expensive coasters sitting on their coffee table over time. It shouldn't be hard to prove that the disk is deteriorated when bought if you take it back asap.
