There is no such thing as an easy Conversion and Sideshow I agree with almost everything you said. What irritates me about Most (Not all) mechanics is they cut corners that I myself would not normally cut. eg I had a new alternator made the other day to keep up with the headlight conversion. As my car runs and Amp guage and this new alternator needed a warning light to function properly he had to add a light into the system. Instead of calling me to ask if I wanted it he just wired it into the loom and covered in with loom tube. I would have taken the 15 miuntes extra to mount it in the dash. That may seem petty but its the stuff like that that puts me off. And hey I understand they have a job to do and want to get your car out quickly so they can get the next one started. Oh and where I get my brake works done (when I can't do it myself) has a sign on there wall that reads something like. "We realise that some of our competeitors may be cheaper. They realise what there workmanship is worth" Doing a conversion yourself tho does have a downside... It will prolly take you 3 times as long as you expect it to take and cost you double what you budget not to mention more than likely shit you too tears. And as for saving on labour.... Have you seen how much Toymodders can eat when it is cold and they are working on a conversion ! Still all told I would much rather do it myself. [Report message to a moderator]
