I just took the sump off my 1GGTEU, it had a nice sealing layer of silicon between the block and the baffle, and another layer between the baffle and the sump. Make sure it goes around the whole way and seals off properly before you tighten all the bolts.
Don't go overboard, but don't be afraid to put a little bit more to make sure you have it done right. After the pain in the arse it was to remove the silastic to get my sump off, I realise this is the way Toyota thought too
