Have you done a compression test and checked the valve clearance. your timing might be right going by the timing marks but your cam might be out of wack. One more silly question. have you got the cyliders firing in the right sequence??
Oh One more thing. I had trouble with this once too. I took out the distributor on my engine once and must have put it back in with one cog too advanced. when idling timing was fine but as soon as it advanced it played up. Found out that it the rotor was just sparking the right plug but only just as it was advanced as soon as the vacumm adavance it it started to spark on the next as well. just check that too.
any one more thing. just check that the distributor is not 180 deg out of alignment.
