what car?? help

i have met some of you... but most of you don't know me.. anyway
what I am wondering is.... i really want to get back into old skool toyotas and not sure what I should get....
recently, I have owned a 4AGE AE82 Rolla Seca and before that... I had a 4AGZE AE86 Sprinter... but the cramped engine bays and electronics are just a hassle... i just want something simple to work on like previous cars I have owned like KE series rollas
Currently, my wife and I share the sensible car... a Black 2002 2L Golf GLE manual... which is a very nice car to drive around but characterless.... like most new cars... but I am planning to keep this one for a long time cause it has a simple engine and awesome interior that keeps me happy on commuting and long trips
I really don't need another car 'cause I have a company car... '02 Camry V6 Conquest Auto... even more characterless than the Golf... but I am happy 'cause I don't pay a cent for it.. not petrol, rego... etc
BUT I WANT A CAR... it makes no bloody sense does it? this car i am planning to own has to be cheap to own and fun... not planning to break any quarter mile records but want it to be zippy...
I was chatting to a friend with an old fastback VW... and he only pays $200 comphrehensive insurance on it cause it is a classic. I like this idea.... so
i've always like tA22 celicas... can anyone tell me what the usual hassles are with these cars.... are they as reliable as KE rollas... i just love the styling of these cars.... such classics... should i buy one to build up or buy one already built up???
Also how do the standard 2T engine go? I went back to driving a 2dr KE rolla and was bitterly dissapointed. Do I need to go to a 2TG for adequate performance? This really is a long term plan.... once i buy one, I am planning to keep it for good.... I am sick of putting time and effort into cars then selling it....
anyway, thanks for reading and listening to my muddled thoughts...
