Ed: he's talking about the 4K, not the 4A, but what you said still applies. Modifying an old K series engine simply isn't cost-effective compared to the other options available, and it WILL cost a lot more than you think to get worthwhile performance gains out of a K series engine. Been there, done that, not doing it again!
