Freaky, I was thinking of doing the exact same thing just this weekend! The Walbro was starting to piss me off (I was driving for about 5 hours straight), and the 2JZ-GTE is set up from the factory with a fuel pump resistor which is bypassed once the engine loads up. A friend has a spare Mk3 resistor so it should just be a matter of wiring it in with a relay.
I guess it would be a good idea to find out if the Walbro pump can handle lower voltages, however lots of the Mk3 boys in the US use Walbro's and to my knowledge they have no problems using the factory resistor setup.
