Yes, use the search function on these forums; 1G conversions have been discussed ad infinitum.
The 1G conversion is not the easiest engine conversion; that would have to be the 18R-G swap, which I did a few years back. That's as easy as they come, since it has the same block as the original engine; just plug and play! The EFI version is the best one to get (18R-GEU) but there's a bit more work involved, ie wiring and fuel system. It's still no biggie though, and it's still a much easier conversion than the 1G.
Having said that, the 1G-GTE has 210hp from the factory (with plenty more available with an exhaust and bleed valve), while the 18R-G has 130-140hp with not much more available without spending a fair amount of money. That's why I said the 1G is the most cost-effective; it costs more, but it's much more effective! I guess it comes down to how much you want to spend and what results you're after.
