To gasget or not to gasget, that is the question

I was thinking of taking my cam cover off to polish it (thankyou forums), and I also have to remove my transmission cover off my gearbox to replace 5th gear, and I was wondering what is better:
Pop up to Toyota and get the gasgets.
OR
Just use some gasget grease
I was just going to go up and buy them (what I usually do), but if the grease is good then I will give it a shot.
Any suggestions?
