Ive not mucked about with carbied 4a's before, but this is a normal trick with datsun engines (carbie, mech fuel pump etc)

If you want to check if hte pump is stuffed, disconnect the fuel line and run a hose from the pump to a jerry can with fuel in it. That will at least tell you if the pump is working or not.

Be careful though - have an extinguisher handy!

If its pumping fuel straight from the jerry, then check the filter, if thats ok check the lines by temporarily replacing the fuel lines with hose to the filter - dont drive it like this though!

If it still wont suck fuel disconnect the line from the tank and use the jerry in its place. If that works then you know its a blocked tank outlet.

basically just keep testing it peice by peice till you find the prob starting at the pump and working to the back of the car.

hope it helps.
