Hello again. Still asking about 7M's in general. My friend is kind of panicky about buying a car, because he thinks that 155000km is a lot for an engine.
Sounds like it has been well looked after. You can do all the usual things if you are really worried, like dry and wet compression test to determine ring sealing etc.
Provided that there has been no significant boost increase and there is no plan to then it should all be ok.
Auto or manual?
Generally autos keep better because the engine doesnt get revved as hard.
From what I could think, japanese engines (4cyl) show more wear for the same amount of kays compared to early holden and fords coz they rev alot harder. If would be unfair to compare a holden red which got 400 000kms (I know of one that has done better ) with a 3cyl charade that got 200 000kms.
