Just find out EXACTLY what you want then research the alarms available from places in your area. Also be aware of cost of things like replacement remotes etc.
500 is a good goal for an installed alarm.
The guy at autobarn would recomment the mongoose ($400 + $100 for install) which includes central locking control, he recommended me that because all the insurance companies approve it.
I know RACQ approve it if the immobiliser is passive arming.
The alarm in my car is a cobra, and does central locking, ultrasonics, backup siren, immobiliser, but when i had to get a replacement remote, only 1 place in brisbane does em, and cost me $105 because they had to send my existing remote to victoria or some shit. I reckon if it was a more popular alarm, it would have cost 1/2 as much.
