I agree with a lot of Gianttomato's comments. I'd also like to see people who have at least half an idea about what they're trying to sell,and I'll add a few things to that. my wants : people will get the catalogues out and go through them when they're there on the shelf. not just chuck their hands up in the air because I've asked about something other than a WRX or skyline. people will actually get parts in when they say they will. it's easy enough to take a deposit if you think the part will cause you hassles. I'm always willing to leave a hundred or so to show I'm serious. one shop is on pretty thin ice with me as they've stuffed me around on three separate occasions now when I've tried to order things from them. all of my mates have washed their hands of the place,I'm only hanging in there because they're the only place in Sydney that has access to the gear I'm after atm. people will be honest and fair. give you all the options,and let you decide which you want. not start with the most expensive,and reluctantly work their way down to the good value part after you hassle for something else. "Hi,I'm after a boost gauge"... "ok,we have the defi electronic units,they are $700." "umm..anything else? how about the VDO units in that catalogue on the shelf?" "nah mate,you want THIS one... it's what EVERYONE is putting in"... parts shops that are just that. for buying PARTS. not sik jackets,videos of half naked girls at "car shows",neon lights, stick on pedals,and plastic chequer plate floor mats. I want to see tools,oils and the like,and rows of parts behind the counter. I want to be able to go into a shop,say hello to the bloke behind the counter,and then ask for a part with the proper name,and get back a price,and availability. not a blank look,and a duck out back to ask the one guy who can speak english,and knows more than where the blue headlight globes are on the shelves. I don't expect an answer of the top of the guy's head,but I do expect them to at least look stuff up. if I wanted to be fucked around,I'd go into a big service station. used parts would be nice to see,but they're really a conflict of interest,and are hard to warrant.
