well in that case i guess car lovers is out of the question 
I'm with you... go for the degreaser and toothbrush to clean the gunk off then if you can get your hands on an air compressor with a spraypaint can, fill that with degreaser also. Carby cleaner gets rid of gunk as well. I used that on my poor little laser before i sold it
it was so clean i felt like buying it off myself!
