nathan - try that c16 truck degreaser. that shit worx a treat - can get it at super cheap pretty cheap too - spray it on - let it sit for a bit then high pressure hose it off, followed by getting the old compressed air and cleaning up eletricals and loom and bits and pieces.
for the fiddly bits if you're keen use a toothbrush.
for the alloy bits i found that prepwash was pretty keen stuff to use to get rid of build up grease.
