Due a compression test to confirm this. The only reason a pump shaft snaps is because either the pump bearing 'froze' or the impeller jammed with soooo much crap. Sounds like the block (water jackets) are full of crap. This would be an indication that the motor hasn't been running distilled water and inhibitor. Chances are the head would be badly corroded too. Don't expect the 18RG to rev much past 6400 with standard valve springs. Mine valve bounces about that, just means time to get the next gear I would stay well clear of that 18RG. Unless you picked it up for $200 or something. But it sounds like a another rebuild would be required. In my opinion a good running 18RG would be around $600 to $800 and a rebuilt one $1200 to $1500. From experience I know that they aren't cheap to rebuild. I am sure other people on this forum have probably found the same thing. [Report message to a moderator]
