The sticker on my Soarer says 1.1mm gap ... just to throw another number into your confusion.

There are varying specs from 0.8mm to 1.1mm that I've seen. I'm currently running BKR6E plugs at 0.8mm gap without a problem.

The issue with spark plugs is that if they are open too wide, you will get misfiring. If the gap is smaller, it will prevent misfire, but at a cost to performance/power. Running a smaller gap than factory spec is usually a case of trying to hide a problem that is there without actually fixing the problem.

Our problem in Australia is the rarity of decent high octane fuel (Soarers require 100RON), so I would suggest around 0.8-0.9mm gap due to the lower octane rating of our fuel.
