poida Regular Registered: July 2002	More car paint prep q's Sat, 05 July 2003 10:29 Hey Guys, Well after some sanding I have hit gold (metal) (doing the bootlid) and am wondering how smooth the metal should be before applying the primer? I found that in many areas there were quite a few scratches that look like they were done with 80 d sandpaper or similar. Even with these scratches underneath I found that the final finish looked fine, should I sand the surface to a very smooth scratch free surface or will the primer and filler take care of these imperfections. Or is this slightly rough surface needed for the primer to stick to the surface properly? What primer/filler etc should I use? cheers [Report message to a moderator]
