I just fitted MX73 arms (which I presume are the same as MA61??) to my car for this very reason, but it didn't entirely fix the problem - due to twisted chassis
I can measure them later, but I'd say they're about 13mm longer than your present arms, whereas the MX62 ones are about 50...
It IS legal and safe to weld them, provided you brace them and do a good job of it.
Another option would be some offset bolts/bushses on the crossmember end. These are a bit fiddly to fit, but will do the job. Then there's always strut tops...
